October is Safer Melville Month – an opportunity for all of us to take an active role in creating safe and secure communities. There are a number of opportunities to get involved including:

Boosting Mood and Mind in Seniors
Facilitated by Lisa Brown; Occupational Therapist and Mental Health Professional from Kind Mindology this is a positive, interactive and informative workshop all about what the research says about positive ageing and provides suggestions for how to get the most out of your older years! Boosting Mood and Mind includes discussion and exploration of aspects that contribute to good mental health; including regular physical activity, strong support networks; good nutrition, managing medications and falls; pain management strategies; the value of positive activities; and a discussion regarding the power of mindfulness and gratitude and its' helpful role in emotional and physical well-being. Throughout the session participants are encouraged to discuss the suggestions and ideas for how they might like to integrate them into their own lives.
