Update 21 June: Thank you to everyone for providing so many amazing name suggestions. In the end, our birdy loved "Mighty Mel" the most. User ablunt is therefore the winner of this competition, and they have been contacted by email. We hope you enjoyed being creative. Make sure you stay tuned to the Melville Community Forums for more about our colourful mascot.

Hi everyone!

When the City of Melville said they wanted me to be their Melville Talks mascot, I was thrilled. I love being in front of the camera, and hope to one day reach the popularity of my good friend Steven Seagull.

But I’ll need a name before that can happen, and I hope City of Melville residents can help me out. Not having a name makes me sad. That’s why I want you to suggest a name for me. As I am a boy, it will need to be a boy’s name!

I come from a long line of Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos that live here in Melville. My favourite activities are flying to the coast, hanging out with my friends, and waking people up in the morning.

I’m really into the internet, and I love staying in touch with my feathered friends from all over Western Australia. However, a lack of opposable thumbs means I’m no good at writing letters. Instead, these days I can be found having a yarn on the Melville Talks Community Forums

The forums are a great place to stay in touch with the City of Melville community and discover new events and things happening in your suburb. So after you leave your name suggestion below, make sure you have a fly around the forums and start talking!

That’s all from me for now. I can’t wait to hear your name suggestions. You could win $150 Garden City voucher if I like your name the best. You can also vote other people's name suggestions up or down.

I look forward to reading your entries below!

Leave your name suggestions here. Remember - I'm a boy! Entries close Sunday 19 June.
