Art & Soul

28 February 2018

Art & Soul workshops for those living with dementia and their carers have been a hit since it started in August 2017.

In the series of six relaxing and uplifting workshops, Art Therapist Iris Whitelock from Art of Life and Music Book combine art and live classical music.

There has been a very positive response from participants who have requested for more sessions! The carers have commented that this is the only place they can come with their loved one where they can do something together, rather than going for a coffee somewhere and feeling defeated by how dementia has robbed them of their ability to have a decent conversation with each other.

The art therapy enables both people to participate, physically to do something like painting and gluing collages, and the live music (popular songs as well as classical music) is really uplifting, resulting in some participants dancing and galumphing around the room!
