Celebrate International Day of People with Disability

28 September 2018

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD)is held each year on 3 December and is a day that aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

Events and activities will be held around Western Australia to celebrate people with disability and raise awareness about the importance of access and inclusion in our society. By celebrating this day and talking about disability, you will help to break down barriers for some of the 4.3 million Australians living with disability and contribute to positive change in your community.

Get Involved

The best way to celebrate is to hold an activity or event for your community. An International Day of People with Disability event should involve and celebrate people with disability and be held on or around 3 December 2018. This could be a guest speaker, morning tea, art exhibition, concert or sausage sizzle to mark the day – or any other ideas you have to celebrate! Other ideas for activities or events, as well as resources such as a Event Planning Kit and promotional materials, are available here.

Grant Funding

The City of Melville Community Partnership Funding is offering funding for community and non-profit groups of up to $1,000 (Level 3) to hold an activity or event to celebrate IDPwD. Applications for IDPwD events or activities must be submitted by Monday 22 October 2018 (six weeks prior to IDPwD).
